Sowing your own seeds is one way to know what you're eating and feeding your family.  Another way is to support legislative initiatives, like California's Prop 37, that require mandatory labeling of genetically modified food.
I've long practiced skygazing with children and families but in April, after attending Lama Surya Das' teaching in Joshua Tree, I decided to devote my daily meditation to skygazing exclusively. The idea of spending my formal practice periods on a chaise lounge in the backyard, wearing a floppy hat and sunglasses, was both radical and appealing to me.  Six months later, it's no surprise that soon I was stargazing at nighttime, too.
WEB Gone Star black x The 2012-13 school year is in full swing and we've already begun working to help schools integrate mindfulness and awareness into their communities through the Inner Kids program.  I'm happy to be back to work.   But, I'm not quite ready to start blogging and tweeting and posting on Facebook again on a regular basis.  I'm going to stay unplugged and keep skygazing for a little while longer.
The 2011-2012 school year has officially come to a close and I want to extend a big thank you to everyone we met this year, and to all those who helped with our programs.    In keeping with the "B" of the ABCs of Attention, Balance and Compassion I am going to take a break from Facebook and Twitter and Blogging to unplug as much as possible for the rest of the summer.   Just one last bit of logisitcs . . .
